For people who need hours of focus, not minutes

Binaurals give you a headache. Lo-fi bores you. It's not you.

You were only given two options. Deep Decibels lets you build your own Flow Mix: the music you actually like, without vocals, blended with your own brainwave and a noise shield — so you can lock in for the whole workday.

Sound familiar?

Tuesday, 10:15 a.m. You need five hours of focus. You get two.

You put on the usual lo-fi. Fifteen minutes later you're bored. The neighbor starts drilling, so you switch to rock with lyrics and start singing. You grab your phone “for a second” — and it's 11:05.

Why this exists

“Binaural beats gave me anxiety… so I programmed my own app.”

I'm Alejandro, a software engineer. I work 8 hours a day and I need at least 5 of real focus to get into flow.

Binaural beats helped me concentrate — but listening to them all day made me anxious. And every alternative was the same: lo-fi or binaurals, binaurals or lo-fi.

So I built Deep Decibels, my own sound engine for iOS and Android, to blend those waves with whatever music I wanted — rock, cumbia, anything — without vocals. It's what I use to stay focused through my workday.

If you're where I was: you're not bad at focusing. You were just given two options.

What each sound actually does

No theory required — the app shows the benefit of every sound. But if you're curious, here's the short version.

Binaural Beats
Binaural beats occur when two slightly different frequencies are played into each ear separately. The brain perceives a third tone—the difference between the two frequencies—which can help entrain brainwaves to a desired state. This phenomenon is often used for relaxation, meditation, and enhancing focus.
Isochronic Tones
Isochronic tones are single tones that turn on and off rapidly at regular intervals, creating distinct, evenly spaced pulses. These pulsations are designed to provide a strong rhythmic stimulus to the brain, aiding in synchronization of brainwaves for purposes such as stress reduction, improved concentration, and better sleep.
Monaural Beats
Monaural beats are produced by combining two tones before they reach the ears, resulting in one coherent sound that naturally contains a beating effect. Unlike binaural beats, which rely on separate ear stimulation, monaural beats deliver the rhythm in a single channel, offering an alternative method to potentially influence brainwave activity for relaxation and focus.
White Noise
White noise contains equal energy across all audible frequencies, resulting in a steady, static-like sound. It's often used to mask distracting background noises, making it ideal for improving concentration and creating a consistent auditory environment for sleep.
Pink Noise
Pink noise features a balance where lower frequencies are slightly more pronounced than higher ones, producing a sound that is softer and more natural to the ear. This characteristic makes it a popular choice for promoting relaxation, improving sleep quality, and creating a calming atmosphere.
Brown Noise
Brown noise (often called red noise) emphasizes even lower frequencies more than pink noise, leading to a deeper, richer sound. Its deep rumble is commonly used to help reduce stress, enhance focus, and foster a sense of calm.
Blue Noise
Blue noise has more energy at higher frequencies, with its power increasing as the frequency increases. This gives it a brighter, sharper quality compared to white noise. It's less commonly used for sleep or relaxation, but can be useful in certain audio applications and sound masking scenarios.
Violet (or Purple) Noise
Violet noise emphasizes even higher frequencies than blue noise. Its spectrum rises more steeply, resulting in a very bright and sometimes more abrasive sound. While it's not typically chosen for relaxation, it finds its place in some specialized audio processing tasks.
Gray Noise
Gray noise is adjusted to match the human ear's sensitivity across the frequency spectrum, aiming for a perception of equal loudness at all frequencies. This equal-loudness noise is designed to be more balanced to our ears, though it's less commonly referenced in everyday use compared to white, pink, or brown noise.

Before you ask

Isn't it expensive?+

Try every Premium feature for 7 days first — the trial starts when you sign in with your email. If you decide not to upgrade, you simply go back to the free plan: nothing to cancel. And the annual plan is $7.99 USD for your first year, less than $0.67 a month.

Can I listen offline?+

Yes. Offline listening is included in Premium, so your Flow Mix works on a plane, in a café with bad Wi-Fi, or anywhere without data.

I already pay for Spotify / YouTube is free. Why this?+

Spotify and YouTube give you one track made for everyone. They don't let you strip the vocals from your rock, layer it with red noise, or put your own binaural frequency underneath. Deep Decibels is built for exactly that.

Binaural beats don't work for me.+

That's the point: they're not your only option and you never have to hear them alone. Blend a wave quietly under your music, switch to isochronic or monaural tones, or skip the wave entirely and just use music + noise.

Do I need headphones?+

For binaural beats, yes — each ear needs a slightly different tone. Isochronic and monaural tones, music and noise all work on speakers.

Is this a medical treatment?+

No. Deep Decibels is a focus and relaxation tool, not a medical device, and we don't promise to cure anxiety, ADHD or insomnia. We explain what each sound is and let you find the combination that works for you.
